Screening room
Choose a study, watch a decision unfold, then try it in your own build.
Predict a press
Studio practice · about 25–38 minutes for this studio exercise
Chapters, transcript and source
Use a destination, a command and a visible change to test what one press promises.
Point to Battle without pressing it. Say where you expect to arrive, and what on the screen gave you that idea.
A destination label can tell you where you are going. A sign on arrival tells you whether the trip succeeded.
Now look at the dice area and read the turn heading. Does a control on the screen always mean it is yours to use?

Find out whether the estate and the battle board make a promise you can read before pressing.
- Read an unfamiliar signal · 5 min
Try the outlined row, dotted path and Waiting exercise with the answer covered. Say which mark catches your eye and which next state you predict.
- Predict on two screens · 7 min
Look at the R32 estate and Hem’s opponent-turn board separately. Predict one activation of Battle, then one activation of Attack. Cite the cue that led you there. Mark anything you remembered from making the game.
- Inspect a result · 5 min
Watch 6:50–7:20 of Heist II. Stop while evacuation is still a choice and again on the results page. Explain what new evidence allows you to say the mission ended.
- Fill one decision card · 8 min
For each Snake Eyes screen choose label, focus sentence, preview or a clearer acknowledgment. Keep different answers when the original predictions differ. Capture one annotated frame or dictate the cues you used.
Keep a dated capture or note from this step.
Stop when · Stop when each screen has a pre-press prediction, a way to recognize the actual result and one reason to keep or change the treatment.
A second input device · 10 more min
Try the estate route once on another device you actually use. Record what happens to focus when you return.

From an evacuation question to a confirmed result · 0:30
Watch for the moment the evacuation is still a choice. Then find the first verdict on the battlefield, the objective summary and the two characters who receive mission experience.
This is the studio’s pre-release walkthrough. The video demonstrates one mission and one sequence. It does not report how players interpreted those screens or what would have happened if No were chosen.Brandt Andrist, art director · Thunderful / SteamWorld Games · full source ↗Look for the square that could be affected · 0:16
Start on the green board, then watch the snow board. Colored squares occupy specific cells. In a closer view an orange strip crosses a green cell. Pause there and identify the area you would inspect before committing.
The trailer cuts between different boards. A blast on a later board cannot verify the result of the earlier forecast. No narration is needed to compare the on-screen highlights.Nintendo of America · Into the Breach by Subset Games · full source ↗Read this study in the textbook ↗ · Compare the visual references →
