Chapters, transcript and source

Separate a documented design intention from a test of whether the mechanism fits Snake Eyes.

A studio might group several settings to reduce first-time setup. That is a problem you can study without copying the menu.

Separate what appears on screen from what the team says it intended. Keep an unanswered player question visible in the margin.

Pick one local condition that would make you reject the borrowed idea. Predict your response, then begin the worksheet from its stated start.

Animated teaching diagrams are illustrative. Original study narration, synthesized locally.
Your studio session · 5 steps

Defend the transfer of one studio decision using authorship, an inspectable mechanism and a condition that could break it.

  1. Compare distinct kinds of evidence · 12 min

Read Book One’s case card. Identify what the preset developer says, what the shipped screen shows and which effects on players were unmeasured. Write one sentence for each.

  2. Read a revised interface · 14 min

Compare the November 2021 Conquest frame, January proposal and March 3.3 release diagram. Follow one public field across all three. In DICE’s notes, mark what shipped and what remained scheduled.

  3. Watch the engineering argument · 10 min

Watch Gonzales from 21:47 through 22:56. Replay the Cycler and draw an arrow from input to changed subject. Identify which claim concerns development effort and which would need a player observation.

  4. Put the analogy under pressure · 18 min

Try the estate’s Guided start and direct settings rows on paper, restoring the printed starting values between them. Then read one public battle value beside its owner or via Inspect. Record one local cost the reference did not have.

Keep a dated capture or note from this step.
  5. Deliver a conditional judgment · 10 min

Name a principle to borrow, a mechanism to adapt, or a reference to keep only for later. Say whether estate and battle get the same judgment. Include a rival explanation and a possible reversal.

Stop when · Stop when you can cite who gave the reason, point to the interface mechanism and say what would change the local recommendation.

Watch the full 38:34 Unreal Fest talk. Record one inventory example, one limitation and one responsibility you would leave with the game host.

In the studio

One next/previous control, two screens · 1:09

Follow the arrow input in Gonzales’s example. The component steps through a list, passes on the changed character and lets the screen refresh. He then names mission selection as another place his team used the same behavior.

The presentation explains Firaxis’s production approach. It supplies neither player-test results nor evidence that Snake Eyes uses the same component.Joel Gonzales · Unreal Engine, Unreal Fest Orlando 2025 · full source ↗
An item takes on different meanings in different places · 0:52

Watch the item icon recur in the Chest, Inventory and Store diagrams. The surrounding marks change when the relevant question changes. The consumable example adds a quantity.

Gonzales presents a teaching diagram with hypothetical items. The diagram does not identify the actual inventory rules of Marvel’s Midnight Suns or validate a shop for Snake Eyes.Joel Gonzales · Unreal Engine, Unreal Fest Orlando 2025 · full source ↗
Look for the square that could be affected · 0:16

Start on the green board, then watch the snow board. Colored squares occupy specific cells. In a closer view an orange strip crosses a green cell. Pause there and identify the area you would inspect before committing.

The trailer cuts between different boards. A blast on a later board cannot verify the result of the earlier forecast. No narration is needed to compare the on-screen highlights.Nintendo of America · Into the Breach by Subset Games · full source ↗
